We have a number of staff network groups which are dedicated to ensuring all staff are listened to and can help shape the future of our hospitals.
Equality and Diversity Group

This group of staff diversity champions is a voice for staff to promote equality and diversity policy and best practice in the Trust; to consult and support staff from diverse groups and to discuss issues raised regarding age, gender, disability, race, LGBT, religion.
REACH Staff Network

Our Race Equality And Cultural Heritage (REACH) staff network is a formal staff network to support Black and minority ethnic (BME) staff to promote race equality and inclusion in the Trust. The network includes staff from all bandings and is multidisciplinary. We welcome and celebrate the cultural diversity of our staff and we are proud of our histories and cultures.
LGBT+ Staff Network

Our CUH LGBT+ Staff Network is a group for CUH staff members who are part of the LGBT+ community and allies who wish to support us in promoting equality and championing LGBT+ staff.
Rainbow badges

The badge is a reminder that you can talk to our staff about who you are, be open about your identity and how you feel. They will do their best to get support for you if you need it.
The Rainbow Badge initiative originated at Evelina London Children's Hospital to make a positive difference by promoting a message of inclusion. A recent Stonewall survey (published November 2018) stated that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) patients face inequalities in their experience of NHS healthcare. The survey estimates that one in five LGBT+ people are not out to any healthcare professional about their sexual orientation when seeking general medical care, and one in seven LGBT+ people have avoided treatment for fear of discrimination.
We believe that people who work in healthcare can play a key role in making things better.
To begin to increase awareness of these issues, and to help improve the experiences of healthcare for LBGT+ patients, our staff wear NHS rainbow badges.
Stonewall Diversity Champion Programme

CUH, in collaboration with the CUH LGBT+ staff network, is proud to have joined the Stonewall Diversity Champion programme as part of our commitment to LGBT+ inclusion. We have worked with Stonewall in the past and are excited to work with them again.
CUH is proud to be one of over 850 organisations that have joined the Stonewall Diversity champion programme to help us embed LGBT+ inclusion across our organisation for both our LGBT+ staff and our LGBT+ patients and communities we serve.
The Diversity Champions Programme is the leading employers' programme for ensuring all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) staff are accepted in the workplace, without exception.
Stonewall works with a range of organisations, all of whom share Stonewall’s core belief in the power of a workplace that is truly equal. The programme seeks to create inclusive and accepting environments for almost a quarter of the UK workforce
Workplace Equality Index
We intend to use our membership to participate in the Workplace Equality Index from Stonewall. This is Britain's leading tool for employers to measure their efforts to tackle discrimination and create inclusive workplaces for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees
We also continue to collaborate with local LGBT+ organisations in Cambridgeshire, Encompass Network and The Kite Trust.
Time to Change Staff Network

Time to Change is a growing social movement working to change the way we all think and act about mental health problems. We've already reached millions of people and begun to improve attitudes and behaviour.
Purple Network

The Purple Network is for staff with hidden or visible disabilities, physical or mental health conditions and allies to work together to promote inclusion for everyone at CUH. You do not have to have a disability to be involved in the network, it is an opportunity for anyone with an interest in inclusion to come together as a united voice for our staff.
