Your Pay
You will be paid on the 25th of the month. If the 25th falls on a weekend or a public holiday, then you will be paid on the Friday immediately before.
We pay you for the current month, so this means you are paid from the 1st of the month until the end of the same month.
Sometimes this can cause new starters difficulties because the following rules apply generally:
When you start, you will be paid from your start date, to the last day of that first month
If you start after the 15th of any month, your first pay will be received the following month plus the following months pay for the full month
We know for those joining after 15th waiting until the following month might be difficult for some people to manage. If this is going to be a problem for you then please don’t worry, we are happy to work with you to find a solution. The best thing to do is to speak to your line manager, ideally ahead of your start date so we can try to help.
Agenda for Change Pay Step Progression
Your Principal Statement of Main Terms and Conditions will state your pay band, starting salary and start date of employment in your current band.
Your pay step date will be on the anniversary of your start date in your current band. Pay steps do not occur every year, but either after two, three or five years depending on your current band, providing required standards have been met. Please see attachment below for further detail.
NHS Pension Scheme
Once you start with us, you’ll automatically be enrolled into the NHS Pension Scheme. This is linked to pay and length of membership, and gives you life assurance from your first day. You’ll get an NHS Pensions pack as part of your induction and you should keep this somewhere safe.
