What to expect

As a healthcare support worker (HCSW), you will need to be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff across the Trust. You’ll also need to understand and be able to record patient data clearly.

We know that recruiting staff with the right values and behaviours is essential for CUH to continue to provide kind, safe and excellent care to patients. So you will have an interview that will focus on these areas.

You will also have some time to ask questions. Make sure you have a good look at these web pages to find out what the role is really about.

Successful applicant

You will receive a job offer within 48 hours of your interview.

If you are not successful in any, or part, of the activities, it does not simply end here. We will provide 1:1 feedback and support to assist you with future applications, as we hope you will apply again. We encourage people to come and see us for a further chance.

Literacy and numeracy

As a healthcare support worker (HCSW), you will need to be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff across the Trust. You’ll also need to understand and be able to record patient data clearly. For these reasons, it’s very important that you have a good level of English and Maths (GCSE Grade D /3 equivalent).

After the interview you will need to complete literacy and numeracy screening to assess the level you are working at and put in any support needed.

By submitting your application you are agreeing to have your contact details passed on to our Functional Skills college provider who will register you to enable you to undertake the required Literacy & Numeracy diagnostic assessment.
